Day 19: When We Finally Give Up

Continuing yesterday’s more quiet reflection with a little Sufjan Stevens:

(The artwork in this video is by Chris Koelle.)

This song was first introduced to me when Karis Church sang it during a Good Friday Gathering. Isn’t it hauntingly beautiful?

There are times in our pain when we

finally step out of ourselves,

stop trying to fix things on our own,

stop looking to other things to soothe the ache,

and turn to the One who is the only One capable of handling the pain.

It may feel like God is so distant; but

he’s with you through it all.

Don’t wait any longer, turn to God with your hurt today.

Today is Day 19 of 31 Days of Prayer for the Hurting.

  1. It’s so true. We so often resist turning to Him but that’s where the healing is.
